Senior Software Engineer (Java)

Tesco Technology has a Technology team made up of over 4,000 experts across 5 countries: UK, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and India. The teams focus on product, software, and system development with strategic ownership of architecture, design, testing, deployment, infrastructure, operation, and security to ensure agile, smooth, and safe operations with maximum business impact.

• At least 6 years of experience delivering Java software.
• Strong Java proficiency and experience with Spring Boot or another framework.
• Experience with Azure, AWS or another cloud solution and Terraform.
• Experience in system design and building scalable, reliable services.
• Experience with Agile methods, including Scrum or Kanban.
• Experience taking ownership of a project and leading a team from a technical or project perspective.
• Good English communication skills and a proactive attitude.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of Scrum.
• Experience with Azure Service Bus.
• Experience with PostgreSQL.

• Design, build and maintain scalable Java services processing about 500 million customer attribute updates weekly.
• Work with a cloud-native Azure microservice platform using Azure Service Bus and PostgreSQL.
• Address scalability and performance challenges while owning reliability, maintainability and technical documentation.
• Contribute to the migration from Azure App Services to Kubernetes using Terraform and CI/CD practices.
• Mentor engineers, automate workflows and explore LLMs, embeddings, new databases and UI capabilities for audience creation.
