Senior Backend + Infrastructure Engineer (Platform)

Soda is a data quality layer platform serving clients like Disney, Ralph Lauren, CBRE, and others. The company develops an open-source engine, Soda Core, and commercializes through Soda Cloud. Founded in 2019, Soda focuses on AI-era data quality monitoring and is backed by investors such as Point 9 Capital and Eurazeo.

• 5+ years building backend software at a product company with ownership of production services.
• Strong Java skills: APIs, async processing, concurrency, and performance tuning.
• Solid SQL in backend context: schema design, query optimization, migrations; experience with MySQL and ClickHouse.
• Good architectural judgment regarding API and service design impact on data flow and performance.
• Experience running services on Kubernetes and AWS (EKS, IAM, networking, RDS, S3).
• Familiarity with CI/CD, GitOps, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Flux, Terraform, or Pulumi.
• Habitual use of observability tools: metrics, logging, tracing (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) and writing tests.
• Experience with agentic engineering, shipping production code with AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor).
• Ability to work independently in a distributed, async international team.
• Fluent English.

Nice to have:

• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms at scale and high-growth startups.
• Knowledge of Python for data engineering.
• Experience in regulated environments (e.g., ISO27001, SOC2).
• Experience building agentic workflows and LLM-powered features.
• Background in data quality, data management, data observability, or ML monitoring.

• Design and build robust backend services and APIs in Java for a multi-tenant SaaS platform.
• Ship product features end-to-end and work directly with product and customers on feature development.
• Improve reliability, performance, and scalability of owned services in production on AWS/Kubernetes.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and observability systems to support fast shipping.
• Enhance systems that enable agentic development including fast CI feedback and guardrails.
• Drive architectural decisions from service design to platform infrastructure evolution.
