Senior Data Engineer (Fulfillment)

The Fulfillment Data department at Tesco Technology focuses on data processing and order fulfillment within the retail and technology industry. It manages data related to customer orders, suppliers, and products to ensure seamless fulfillment operations and optimize logistics. The team works on data integrity and security and collaborates cross-functionally to enhance data pipeline architecture.

• Experience with data processing using Apache Spark with Scala or Python.
• Knowledge of data storage technologies like Apache HDFS, CEPH S3, or respective cloud alternatives.
• Familiarity with resource managers such as Apache Yarn or cloud equivalents.
• Experience with lakehouse technologies like Apache Hive or Kyuubi.
• Proficiency with workflow schedulers such as Airflow or alternatives.

Nice to have:

• Functional programming.
• Experience with Apache Kafka.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes.
• Stream processing skills.
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes.

• Lead the design, development, and evolution of scalable, reliable, and secure data pipeline architectures.
• Build and optimize large-scale data solutions that meet business, performance, and operational requirements.
• Drive platform improvements through automation, infrastructure modernization, and continuous optimization.
• Design and maintain robust data ingestion, transformation, and delivery frameworks across diverse data sources.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions and influence technical direction.
• Champion data quality, security, observability, and operational excellence across the data platform.
• Build data products and self-service capabilities that empower analysts and data scientists.
• Mentor engineers, promote best practices, and contribute to the long-term technical strategy of the data platform.

This role requires candidates to be based in or near Kraków, Poland, as 60% of the working week involves onsite collaboration at office locations or local sites; the remainder can be remote.
