Data Centre Technician (m/f/n)

The position is for a Data Centre Technician to support a long-term project delivered for a European Union organization based in Warsaw. The role is offered by SHIMI Sp. z o.o.

• Hands-on experience with server and network device installation.
• Understanding of rack layouts, PDUs, cabling standards, and labelling.
• Basic networking knowledge including LAN, patching, and switches.
• Familiarity with asset management and inventory systems.
• Ability to follow change management and data center procedures.
• Basic troubleshooting of hardware components.
• Proficiency in "Rack & Stack" procedures.
• Strong documentation, reporting skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Manual handling proficiency, including lifting heavy data center and IT equipment.
• Ability to work in a data center environment (noise, cold, confined spaces).
• Ability to work between different partner's sites in Poland and abroad DRS locations.
• Driving license category B.
• Higher education.
• Minimum 3 years of IT experience, including 2 years in a similar position.
• English language proficiency at B2 level.

• Commissioning & Decommissioning with installation duties: physically installing Data Centre components, servers, network switches, and performing initial power-on tests.
• Ongoing verification and upkeep of Data Centre cabling: ensuring correct routing, secure mounting, and accurate labelling for power and network runs.
• Maintaining the data centre store, handling deliveries, and managing hardware lifecycle including commissioning and decommissioning.
• Performing regular inventory audits, updating asset registers, and providing detailed reporting on capacity and hardware health.
• Replacing faulty hardware components and managing the RMA process with the DC Contract Manager.
• Planning rack layouts and overseeing third-party contractors as requested.
• Maintaining maintenance management systems and preparing notifications for planned maintenance windows.
• Preparing and performing changes to Data Centre and IT core infrastructure.
