SAS Application Engineer in Finance & Accounting Platforms

The Financial Data Application (FDA) team within the Group IT Division, Data & AI, manages the central, group-wide finance data hub, calculation engines, and posting platform of Helvetia, running and developing four core SAS-based applications: CDS (Common Data Store), BAT (Baloise Accounting Transactions), RIVA9, and SOLE (Solvency Processing Engine).

• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in SAS implementation, preferably on financial or accounting platforms.
• Expertise in SAS 9.4 including SAS Foundation, SAS Macro Language, SAS DI Studio, SAS Enterprise Guide, and SAS Studio.
• Solid experience with SQL and databases (DB2, Oracle).
• Experience with web services and data formats such as XML, JSON, REST/SOAP.
• Knowledge of Python and Databricks.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to take end-to-end ownership of service.
• Proficient in English; German is a plus.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with SAS Platform Architecture (Metadata Server, Management Console).
• Experience with SAP Accounting platforms (SAP FI, S/4HANA GL).
• Knowledge of version control systems (Git, Subversion), Jira, and Confluence.
• Background in agile/Scrum software development, reviews, and test strategies.

• Maintain, operate, and develop the BAT posting engine and the RIVA9 IFRS 9 calculation engine (SAS 9.4).
• Implement Transaction Record version upgrades including new data fields and format changes.
• Design and build a new interface from SAS into SAP.
• Improve performance and parallelize processing to handle increased data volumes.
• Act as a bridge between Business Analysts, accounting teams, and technical implementation within an agile setup.
• Take ownership to ensure the business-critical service remains active and evolving.
