Senior Data Engineer (Fulfillment)

The Data Engineering department at Tesco Technology leads data processing tasks in retail and technology, focusing on optimizing logistics, managing order and supplier data, and ensuring data integrity and security for fulfillment operations.

Mandatory skills:

• Experience with data processing using Apache Spark in Scala or Python.
• Knowledge of data storage systems such as Apache HDFS, CEPH S3 or cloud equivalents.
• Familiarity with resource management tools like Apache Yarn or cloud alternatives.
• Experience with lakehouse technologies such as Apache Hive, Kyuubi, or alternatives.
• Use of workflow schedulers like Airflow or alternatives.

Nice to have:

• Functional programming.
• Experience with Apache Kafka.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes.
• Stream processing.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.

• Leading the design, development, and evolution of scalable, reliable, and secure data pipeline architectures.
• Building and optimizing large-scale data solutions that meet business, performance, and operational requirements.
• Driving platform improvements through automation, infrastructure modernization, and continuous optimization.
• Designing and maintaining robust data ingestion, transformation, and delivery frameworks across diverse data sources.
• Partnering with Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions and influence technical direction.
• Championing data quality, security, observability, and operational excellence across the data platform.
• Building data products and self-service capabilities that empower analysts and data scientists.
• Mentoring engineers, promoting best practices, and contributing to the long-term technical strategy of the data platform.

This role requires candidates to be based in or near Kraków for hybrid work: 60% office (3 days/week) and 40% remote (2 days/week).
