Software Development Engineer II, Global Money Movement

Every Remitly transfer, from any product, in any market, ends the same way: money has to actually move. The Global Money Movement team builds and maintains the platform that customer-facing product lines use to move money between customers and their recipients across borders, through a broad network of external banking and payment partners.

• A BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
• 3+ years of professional experience as a software developer
• Proficiency in a general purpose language such as Java, Kotlin or Golang
• Experience with data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns
• Proficiency in an RDBMS like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server
• Proven experience and understanding of software development practices, system design, software design patterns, and algorithms
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS
• Comfort using AI tools across the development lifecycle
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Fluent English on B2 level or higher

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
• Integrate with external banking and payment partners and keep those integrations healthy in production
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across time zones to identify and prioritize project requirements, and develop solutions to meet business needs
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, technical specifications, and testing plans
• Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards, best practices, and industry trends
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, identifying root causes and implementing fixes
• Mentor more junior engineers and participate in interviewing
• Support the Money Movement global team through a rotating on-call schedule
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
