Lead Data Architect

Bayer is seeking a Lead Data Architect for its Pharma Preclinical Data Intelligence team in Warsaw. The role focuses on shaping technology architecture to facilitate better, faster decision-making from discovery through early development with an emphasis on scalable digital solutions. This position involves collaboration with business and IT partners to define architectural vision and ensure alignment with data governance and architectural standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• Experience designing and implementing data models (conceptual, logical, physical).
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Lakebase.
• Experience with lakehouse technologies including Databricks, Unity, Spark, and Lake Formation.
• Familiarity with agentic tools and processes: GenAI for data pipeline code, LLM for mapping and annotation.
• Experience with ETL tools and processes; strong SQL and scripting skills.
• Experience with cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of data governance principles and best practices.

• Design data models and metadata systems.
• Help principal data architects interpret an organization’s needs.
• Provide oversight and advice to other data architects designing and producing data artefacts.
• Design and support the management of data dictionaries.
• Ensure teams work to the standards set by principal data architects and Architectural Council guidance.
• Collaborate with other architects and engineers for data architecture alignment.

At Bayer, the minimum monthly gross compensation for this role is 25,760 PLN gross, with final pay determined by experience, qualifications, scope of responsibility, and internal alignment. This position is eligible for variable pay components such as performance-based bonuses.
