Senior DevOps Engineer with Security Operations Focus

Svitla Systems Inc. is a company seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with a focus on Security Operations to support a global client providing environmental and social impact information through multiple SaaS environments using Azure and other platforms.

• Hands-on experience administering Windows Server (and Linux) in Azure, including patching and OS troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Defender for Servers/Endpoint and Azure Monitor Agent (AMA).
• Understanding of patch and vulnerability management using tools like Azure Update Manager, WSUS.
• Experience managing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines for Azure-based SaaS apps, including SonarCloud.
• Strong scripting skills in PowerShell or Bash.
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps and DevOps tools.
• Experience with configuration management/infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
• In-depth understanding of security principles.
• Knowledge of version control/source-code management.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Understanding of web server management such as IIS or Tomcat.
• Working knowledge of networking technologies including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong analytical skills for reliability improvements.
• Experience in agile software development.
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver on time.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Nice to have:

• Understanding of cloud-based networking (VNETs, NSGs, Route Tables).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines (YAML and Classic).
• Knowledge of PaaS services: Web Apps, Function Apps, Storage Accounts, Key Vaults, Azure Redis Cache, Azure Service Bus, API Management, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Azure Monitor, New Relic, Rapid7.
• Experience with Containers/Docker.
• Familiarity with Git, ARM, Terraform, Ansible, Azure CLI.
• Familiarity with programming languages: JavaScript, React, C#, Java, PowerShell, Bash.

• Remediate endpoint and monitoring agent health, diagnosing and fixing issues with Microsoft Defender for Servers/Endpoint and Azure Monitor Agent deployments.
• Review and improve patching processes, including execution using tools like Azure Update Manager.
• Coordinate patch scheduling with application owners to minimize production disruption.
• Support and implement SonarCloud and CI/CD pipeline improvements, integrating static code analysis and quality/security gates into Azure DevOps pipelines.

Additional responsibilities:

• Perform and automate system administration tasks including installation, configuration, maintenance, and disaster recovery.
• Build and maintain supporting infrastructure for cloud environments using various Azure resources.
• Automate auditing and tooling for security, compliance, and resource usage.
• Identify and resolve system-level OS configuration and hardware bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with engineers on complex projects applying subject-matter expertise.
• Optimize application infrastructure for performance and reliability.
• Establish and maintain KPIs to ensure operational excellence.
• Maintain ownership of sprint tasks and time logging.
