Software Development Engineer II, Global Money Movement

Remitly is a financial services company focusing on global money transfer services that enable customers to move money securely and reliably across borders. • A BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
• 3+ years of professional experience as a software developer
• Proficiency in a general purpose programming language such as Java, Kotlin, or Golang
• Experience with data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns
• Proficiency in a relational database management system such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server
• Proven experience and understanding of software development practices, system design, software design patterns, and algorithms
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS
• Comfort using AI tools across the development lifecycle
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Fluent in English at B2 level or higher

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
• Integrate with external banking and payment partners and keep integrations healthy in production
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across time zones to identify and prioritize project requirements and develop solutions
• Develop and maintain technical documentation including design documents, technical specifications, and testing plans
• Participate in code reviews ensuring adherence to coding standards, best practices, and industry trends
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues by identifying root causes and implementing fixes
• Mentor more junior engineers and participate in interviewing
• Support the Money Movement global team through a rotating on-call schedule
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
