Solution Architect - R&D

The company operates in the Digital & Technology sector, supporting Research & Development outcomes across the product innovation lifecycle.

• Demonstrated experience as a Solution Architect in Digital or Technology environments.
• Experience designing solutions across R&D, scientific, product development, or data-intensive domains.
• Ability to translate complex business and scientific requirements into implementable architectures.
• Understanding of integration patterns, APIs, and data flows.
• Solution design skills including logical architecture, integration, data flows, and non-functional design.
• Ability to provide pragmatic “minimum viable architecture” guidance that accelerates delivery.
• Clear communication with technical teams and scientific/business stakeholders.
• Comfort operating across ambiguity, experimentation, and evolving requirements.

• Experience in regulated or compliance-aware environments.
• Experience working with R&D platforms, lab systems, or scientific data platforms.
• Experience operating within enterprise architecture standards and governance models.

• Design end-to-end technology solutions that meet business, scientific, security, scalability, and operational requirements.
• Translate R&D business needs into solution architectures, integration designs, data flows, and target-state roadmaps.
• Define architecture for product development, laboratory, clinical, pre-clinical, and scientific data management platforms.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, target-state architecture, and technology roadmaps.
• Support end-to-end product lifecycle traceability across R&D, manufacturing readiness, and quality processes.
• Design secure and reliable data architectures, APIs, integrations, and data models that enable effective data sharing and reuse.
• Partner with Data & AI teams to enable advanced analytics, reporting, and AI-driven capabilities.
• Ensure solutions meet regulatory, validation, data integrity, privacy, and auditability requirements.
• Provide architectural governance throughout delivery, including design reviews, technical guidance, and implementation oversight.
• Document architecture decisions, risks, dependencies, and design trade-offs, ensuring timely escalation where required.
• Embed security, resilience, business continuity, and operational support requirements into solution designs.
• Drive standardisation through reusable architecture patterns, shared services, and enterprise platforms while reducing unnecessary complexity.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Security, and business stakeholders to deliver effective technology solutions.
• Contribute to architecture best practices, standards, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
