Golang Engineer (Regular / Senior)

Our client is a fast-growing European insurtech company building modern digital insurance solutions and embedded protection products. Their platform enables insurance offerings to be seamlessly integrated into e-commerce and financial services across multiple European markets.

• 6+ years of backend development experience (8+ years for Senior candidates).
• 3+ years of commercial Golang experience (5+ years for Senior candidates).
• Strong experience designing and developing REST and gRPC APIs.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices and cloud-native architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to clean, maintainable code.
• Experience using AI tools to improve development efficiency while critically validating generated outputs.
• Very good English communication skills.

Senior candidates should also have:

• Experience mentoring software engineers.
• Experience participating in architectural and system design decisions.
• Strong production troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have:

• Experience in insurance, fintech or financial services.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry or Jaeger.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm).
• Experience with performance optimisation and production scalability.
• German language skills.

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services in Golang.
• Build and evolve high-performance REST and gRPC APIs.
• Take ownership of services throughout their lifecycle – from requirements and architecture to deployment and production support.
• Collaborate closely with Product, DevOps and Engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
• Improve system performance, reliability and operational excellence.
• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and observability practices.
• Ensure security, compliance and high engineering standards across the codebase.

Senior Engineer responsibilities:

• Mentor other engineers through code reviews, technical discussions and knowledge sharing.
• Participate in architecture decisions and influence technical direction.
• Drive complex technical initiatives and improve engineering practices across the team.
• Lead production incident analysis and continuously improve reliability and scalability.
