Engineering Manager

Digital Zone started as an online platform providing digital vouchers and direct top ups, became the best digital voucher company in Iraq by 2022, and was acquired by fintech company Qi Card. It hosts multiple mini apps within the SuperQi super app and aims to simplify everyday digital tasks across the region.

• 8+ years in software engineering with 3+ years leading engineering teams including hiring and growth.
• Direct experience building or operating online stock trading, brokerage, or capital markets systems with order management, execution, market data, or settlement production systems.
• Working fluency in domain concepts: order types and lifecycle, market data feeds, clearing, settlement, corporate actions, reconciliation, and audit.
• Strong hands-on technical judgment for architecture reviews and tradeoffs relating to correctness and latency.
• Comfortable in environments using TypeScript, Go, Postgres, and AWS/private cloud hybrid.
• Experience collaborating with compliance and risk teams on regulated financial products.
• Capacity to move fast on greenfield products without compromising correctness and controls.

Nice to have:

• Experience launching retail trading or investing products from zero.
• Exposure to FIX protocol or exchange and broker connectivity.
• MENA or emerging-market financial services experience including regulatory context and market entry.

• Build and lead the trading engineering team from scratch: hire, mentor, and grow engineers.
• Own the technical strategy and architecture for the trading platform: order lifecycle, execution, market data ingestion/distribution, positions, settlement, and reconciliation.
• Drive integrations with brokers, exchanges, and market data sources.
• Ensure reliability and correctness under market conditions, including latency budgets, capacity handling, idempotency, and reconciliation.
• Collaborate with product, compliance, risk, and finance teams to integrate regulatory, KYC, AML, and audit requirements.
• Establish rigorous engineering practices including testing, controlled releases, incident response, and audit-grade observability.
