Principal Software Engineer

Autodesk Operations Solutions is building a next-generation cloud platform called Tandem, which connects data and workflows across the entire manufacturing and facility lifecycle. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical discipline.
• Over 10 years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale commercial software systems.
• Proven leadership in architecture and delivery of complex platform initiatives spanning multiple teams.
• Strong proficiency in modern programming languages such as Go, C++, TypeScript, Node.js, C#, Python, or Java; experience with Go and C++ particularly valued.
• Experience designing distributed systems, microservices, cloud-native applications, and API design.
• Experience with modern cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred) or Azure.
• Strong understanding of data architecture and database technologies.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and modern software delivery practices.
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, reliability, security, and performance optimization.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience building multi-tenant B2B SaaS platforms.
• Experience operating large-scale cloud services in production.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerized workloads, and cloud observability.
• Experience building Progressive Web Applications (PWAs) and micro frontends.
• Experience with WebGL, 3D visualization, or digital twin platforms.
• Familiarity with industrial/manufacturing domains including simulation, digital twin, operations, Smart Factory/Industry 4.0, facility operations, and asset management.
• Familiarity with industrial simulation technologies including discrete event simulation.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.

• Design and build scalable, resilient, and secure cloud-native backend services with contributions to frontend development as needed.
• Contribute to technical vision and architecture for critical platform services.
• Establish engineering standards, architectural patterns, and best practices for platform quality and maintainability.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, and Engineering leaders to align technical investments with business objectives.
• Guide teams through complex technical challenges balancing architecture and delivery goals.
• Lead design reviews and provide technical mentorship.
• Contribute hands-on to software development across full stack technologies, focusing on Go, C++ backends and React frontends.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Champion operational excellence through observability, automation, reliability engineering, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in Agile planning and help teams improve delivery practices.
