Strong Middle Scala Engineer

Intellias is a leading software provider in the automotive industry. The role involves working on a long-term project for a Fortune 100 industrial manufacturer, modernizing cloud-based services and data products used globally by dealers, enterprise customers, and internal business units.

• 3+ years of commercial Scala experience
• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Experience with Akka or Apache Pekko
• AWS experience
• Experience with Kafka, Kinesis or other messaging platforms
• Functional programming knowledge (Cats, Cats Effect, ZIO)
• Experience with PostgreSQL and SQL
• Experience with Docker and CI/CD
• Knowledge of microservices and distributed systems
• Strong architecture and problem-solving skills

Nice to have:

• Java 17+/21
• Spring Boot
• Hibernate/JPA
• DynamoDB
• CloudFormation
• Flyway
• Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks
• Experience with telemetry or large-scale event processing

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Scala
• Build event-driven services, integrations, and distributed system components
• Develop highly available APIs and cloud-native backend solutions
• Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root-cause analysis
• Ensure software quality through testing, code reviews, and best practices
• Mentor team members and contribute to technical excellence
• Own services throughout their entire lifecycle
