Sr. Backend Engineer (Golang/Distributed Systems) - EU

Pack.com is a company focused on Gamified Shopping.

• 5+ years deep backend engineering experience with elite Golang proficiency and strong production experience in JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js).
• Extensive hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, including consumer groups, offset management, and message delivery guarantees.
• Real-world experience deploying and debugging containerized services on GCP and Kubernetes.
• Advanced understanding of data modeling, caching, and indexing in Redis and MongoDB.
• Prior experience working in small, fast-moving teams or early-stage startups with end-to-end feature ownership.
• Ability to pass a rigorous technical assessment covering concurrent Go, system design, and Kafka events.

Nice to have:

• Strong quantitative/mathematical aptitude related to gaming ecosystems or financial data.
• Basic exposure or interest in AI, LLMs, autonomous workflows, or meta-prompting.
• Availability aligned to business hours between EST and EET for engineering communication.

• Design, write, and maintain backend microservices primarily in Golang, with backing services in Node.js (TypeScript).
• Own and evolve event-streaming infrastructure using Apache Kafka, managing partition strategies and asynchronous workflows.
• Architect, scale, and optimize data layers with Redis caching/pub-sub and MongoDB document indexing.
• Deploy and manage services within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes (K8s) environments to ensure reliability.
• Rapidly translate ambiguous product requirements into scalable RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Solve complex backend calculations natively within business logic, such as gaming mechanics or financial transactions.
