Lead Backend engineer

• Background as a backend engineer with experience in NestJS and TypeScript preferred but transferable.
• Ability to read code, understand integrations, and debug using logs.
• Skill in distinguishing between tool bugs, configuration mistakes, and data issues.
• Independent troubleshooting before escalating to tech lead.
• Willingness to learn insurance configuration; prior insurance experience helpful but not required.
• Experience managing ticket lifecycles including triage, assignment, review, validation, UAT, and handoff.
• Clear communication with Implementation Manager and tech lead regarding requirements and tooling/platform issues.
• Proactive identification of blockers early.
• Transparency about scope and tooling gaps when requirements cannot be met.
• Mindset to translate client feedback into configuration fixes and distinguish expectations from system behavior.
• Strong quality mindset focused on getting things right first time.
• Systematic troubleshooting with attention to detail across rules, forms, data, and integrations.
• Knowledge of comprehensive and correct configurations prior to UAT.

New product onboarding:

• Lead configuration for new insurance products on the Carrier Platform.
• Manage changes to existing products including rule updates, form changes, rater updates, and product definition updates.
• Clarify requirements with the Implementation Manager before and during implementation.
• Assign work to mid-level configuration engineers based on complexity and bandwidth.
• Monitor progress, identify blockers, and reassign work as needed.

Configuration Execution:

• Perform configuration work directly as needed.
• Model quality standards and structured troubleshooting for the team.
• Deliver end-to-end functioning configurations meeting agreed requirements.

Quality Assurance (Pre-UAT):

• Review configurations before moving to UAT.
• Validate against requirements, acceptance criteria, and quality checklist.
• Identify configuration errors, logic gaps, and data mismatches before UAT.
• Coach engineers through rework when issues are found.
• Act as quality gate by reviewing and signing off configurations before UAT.

UAT Partnership (with Implementation Manager):

• Execute UAT jointly with Implementation Manager.
• Validate configurations in real client scenarios.
• Troubleshoot UAT failures to identify configuration, data setup, or tooling issues.
• Own configuration outcomes in UAT and coordinate fixes.

Requirement Clarification:

• Translate client and business needs into technical configuration requirements with the Implementation Manager.
• Question targeted implementation details with the tech lead.
• Identify underspecified requirements early to avoid assumptions.

Please note that working within this project means availability for meetings in PT timezone (mainly till 21:00, usually no later than 18:00 CEST) and fluent English.
