IT Operations Specialist

QED is a tech company focused on public health and food security in Sub-Saharan Africa. They build digital infrastructure and AI used at the intersection of aid and scientific inquiry, including surveillance of HIV and malaria, and nutrient analysis of crops and soils. Their work happens at a national scale and is funded by partners like the Gates Foundation, CDC, and USAID.

• High level of trust and absolute integrity due to access to sensitive operational layers.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in IT administration with a proactive and opinionated approach.
• Proficiency in core technologies including Git for version control, scripting, and networking fundamentals.
• Comfort managing devices running Windows, Linux, and Android.
• Working proficiency in English (≥C1).

Bonus:

• Experience with server infrastructure.
• Willingness to travel for onsite hardware management in Africa.

• Global procurement and logistics: sourcing, configuring, and distributing laptops (Windows/Linux) and mobile devices for staff in Poland and African offices.
• Keeping track of inventory: monitoring QED equipment condition and status.
• Security enforcement: auditing and enforcing personal computer security policies including Full Disk Encryption (FDE) and handling secrets.
• Access control: managing onboarding, offboarding, and access to internal platforms.
• Android MDM: managing a custom Mobile Device Management service built on the Android Management API including procurement and logistics for field devices.

Bonus:

• Physical installation, cabling, and configuration of server racks.
• Willingness to travel to African offices for hardware deployments.
