Senior Software Engineer (Java)

• Deep hands-on experience with Java 21+, including modern features such as records, sealed classes, pattern matching, and structured concurrency.
• Practical experience with reactive or asynchronous programming models using Eclipse Vert.x, Project Reactor or similar.
• Experience with Java virtual threads (Project Loom) and concurrency models.
• Experience building and operating distributed backend systems at scale, ideally in eCommerce or high-throughput domains.
• Familiarity with event-driven communication patterns using tools like Kafka.
• Proficiency in modern engineering practices: CI/CD, automated testing, decoupling, code reviews, and observability.
• Practical application of concepts such as DDD, Clean Architecture, Event-Driven Architecture, SOLID principles, feature flags, and dependency injection.
• Experience in environments practicing "you build it, you own it" with multiple daily releases.
• Strong advocate and practitioner of meaningful testing that catches real bugs.
• Experienced user of AI coding tools for advanced workflows beyond autocomplete.
• Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code and enforce review standards.
• Willingness to introduce and shape AI tooling adoption within the team.
• Enjoys knowledge sharing and collaborative programming.
• Strong collaboration skills with Product Management to shape requirements.
• Embraces agility: short iterations, active feedback, and data-informed decisions.

Not a good match if you:

• Prefer frameworks like SAFe or fixed requirements documents.
• Lack experience in fast-moving, product-oriented distributed systems.
• Prefer strict separation of infrastructure, backend, frontend, testing, and product roles.
• Prefer receiving fully formed requirements rather than shaping them with Product Management.
• See AI tools as a threat or gimmick.

• Build scalable backend solutions using modern Java features, reactive/asynchronous programming with frameworks like Eclipse Vert.x or Project Reactor.
• Participate in architecture and product decisions within a cross-functional team.
• Apply event-driven communication patterns involving tools like Kafka.
• Implement and advocate for modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, and observability.
• Guide the team on code quality and testing practices.
• Integrate AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) in daily workflows for code generation, test writing, refactoring, and documentation.
• Promote and shape AI tooling adoption and critically evaluate AI-generated code.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to shape requirements and think from a user and business perspective.
• Share knowledge through pair programming, whiteboard sessions, and code reviews.
• Work within Agile processes (Scrum or Kanban) suitable for the team.
