Senior Python Engineer, Document App (Content Engineering Team)

PandaDoc provides an all-in-one document workflow automation platform used by over 67,000 organizations globally, helping teams create, send, track, and e-sign digital documents like proposals and contracts. The company reached over $100 million in annual recurring revenue in 2024 and has a diverse Engineering team of around 250 people. The role is within the Content Engineering team, which manages real-time collaborative document editing infrastructure and content backend systems.

• 5+ years of Python development experience in production
• Strong experience with relational databases including SQL, schema design, migrations, and query optimization
• Hands-on experience with message queues and event-driven architecture (Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ or similar)
• Deep understanding of AsyncIO and concurrent systems
• Experience building and operating scalable microservice architectures
• Knowledge of distributed systems concepts: consistency, ordering, failure modes
• Understanding of full development lifecycle from requirements to production monitoring

Nice to have:

• Experience building or integrating AI agents, LLM-powered workflows, or agentic systems

• Design and evolve backend systems for real-time collaborative document editing supporting tens of thousands of users
• Own the content model and data persistence layer including schema design and migrations
• Build and maintain event-driven pipelines using Kafka and NATS to process frontend interactions
• Contribute to reliability, observability, and operational excellence of Python microservices
• Ship product features end-to-end, including backend architecture and production monitoring
• Contribute to AI-powered capabilities including agentic document workflows
