Data Center Technician 2

AMD is a technology company focused on supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI solutions. The Field Services department supports customers and AMD staff with server deployment and maintenance.

• Exceptional server hardware knowledge with understanding of component and system failures
• Experience in root cause analysis and failure analysis participation
• Experience with software and firmware tools of various server OEMs
• Preferably familiar with Linux and Windows scripting
• Familiarity with deployment technologies including WDS, PXE, DHCP, and FTP
• Working knowledge of Windows Server OS, Winpe OS administration, and Linux PXE services
• Attention to detail and accuracy in issue investigation
• Ability to regularly lift and move server systems weighing up to 70 lbs
• Demonstrated strong ownership and self-motivation
• Ability to work autonomously and within teams, including geographically dispersed teams, customers, and vendors
• Willingness to adopt a flexible work schedule

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree in a computer-related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred or 3+ years equivalent experience in computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications or related discipline

Preferred Certifications:

• CompTIA A+ or equivalent
• CompTIA Server+ or equivalent
• MCP/MCSE certification is a plus

• Provide break-fix support for new rack deployment
• Support incident management for sustain operations
• Perform data center activities as directed by customer, including hardware replacement, configuration, power cycles, patch management, and cabling
• Assist in generating periodic reports per customer specifications
• Participate in failure analysis within the data center environment
• Provide logistical support for asset management and data center floor plan audits
• Provide technical assistance to senior and junior AMD tech team members
• Provide detailed feedback on service issues impacting SLAs
• Follow guidance from local, regional, and global AMD Services leadership on customer communication and escalations
• Represent AMD Systems professionally in client-facing interactions
• Accept flexible working hours as directed by AMD Services leadership
