Database Migrations Engineer - EMEA

• Strong proficiency across both MySQL and Postgres.
• Direct experience executing database migrations alongside customers in a technical, customer-facing role.
• Instinct for productising repeatable patterns within bespoke migration work.
• Strong written and asynchronous communication skills for remote collaboration.
• Ability to define and shape the scope of the migration function.

Nice to have:

• Experience at database tooling or infrastructure companies such as PlanetScale, Percona, or Vitess.
• Experience building tooling or automation for migration workflows.
• Familiarity with AWS infrastructure or PaaS environments.
• Experience with AWS DMS or similar migration tools.
• Public communication, writing, or teaching experience on database topics.
• Familiarity with PHP applications.

• Execute database migrations with enterprise and Private Cloud customers, owning technical execution on calls.
• Assume ownership of the PlanetScale relationship and migration work.
• Productise repeatable migration patterns, creating documentation and tooling to minimize bespoke efforts.
• Automate recurring migration requests to reduce manual work.
• Support broader app and service migrations onto Private Cloud as workload allows.
• Write documentation, runbooks, and training materials to share knowledge across teams.
• Monitor competitive database offerings (PlanetScale, Aurora, Percona) and advise on needed changes.
