Scala Engineer

The Core Data team develops highly-available, consistent, and easy-to-use services for near-realtime access to user data graphs, focusing on scalability and reliability.

• Familiarity with Scala, Java, MySQL, Pub/Sub, and BigQuery
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
• 3+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong understanding of common algorithms, data structures, and code design principles
• Strong knowledge of high-scale distributed systems
• Passion for database scaling and performance challenges
• Strong sense of ownership, persistence, drive, and communication skills

• Help define the future of Core Data architecture in the cloud and evolve systems accordingly
• Work with team members to design novel solutions addressing scale and observability challenges
• Develop services to identify, eliminate, and prevent data inconsistencies or corruptions
• Provide guidance to client engineering teams on leveraging near-real-time interfaces
• Drive wider adoption of near-real-time interfaces by identifying compatible use cases
• Develop and implement initiatives to ensure systems consistently meet availability, performance, and reliability SLOs
