Data Platform Engineer (Kafka / Java)

• Minimum 3 years of experience in production environments
• Strong knowledge of Apache Kafka including brokers, topics, partitioning, replication, and data schemas
• Strong knowledge of Kafka Streams and ksqlDB/kSQL
• Experience configuring and developing Kafka Connect, including working with connectors
• Strong knowledge of Java and Spring Boot
• Experience with MongoDB, including document schema design, indexing, and query optimization
• Experience working with GraphQL, including schema definition and resolver implementation
• Basic knowledge of Apache Iceberg table formats and metadata management
• Knowledge of Python and scripting
• Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry for monitoring and observability
• Knowledge of security topics including TLS, SASL, ACL, and data encryption at rest and in transit
• Skills in requirements analysis, data mapping, and creating functional and technical documentation

• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into IT solutions
• Collaborate with business analysts and IT teams to understand processes and data flows
• Design and document data mappings between source systems, streaming platform, and ODS layer
• Design and develop Apache Kafka topics, partitioning, and data schemas
• Develop microservices in Java/Spring Boot, including Kafka producers, consumers, and stream processing solutions
• Configure and develop integrations using Kafka Connect, including custom SMTs and data converters
• Design data models and collections in MongoDB, optimizing queries and indexes
• Design and develop GraphQL services including schemas and resolvers exposing MongoDB data
• Work with Apache Iceberg, defining table structures and metadata
• Monitor and diagnose data flows, optimize solutions for performance and cost
• Create functional and technical documentation; participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing
