Lead Gameplay Engineer (NPC Behavior)

CD PROJEKT RED is a company focused on creating revolutionary, story-driven RPGs, including The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077. The role is for their new project, Hadar, which is a new IP built from the ground up with quality and vision consistent with their previous works.

• 7+ years of experience in developing NPC behavior systems in AA/AAA projects.
• Proven experience leading a development team.
• Experience shipping at least one game.
• Expertise in C++ coding principles and practices.
• Nice to have experience in Unreal Engine 4 or 5.
• Strong communication and team leadership skills.
• Experience in risk management and team development.
• Value openness, constructive feedback, and respectful dialogue.
• Ability to bring perspective while remaining collaborative.
• Passion for professional growth and staying updated on industry trends.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Familiarity with agile methodologies.

• Build and lead a team designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining NPC community and behavior technology.
• Collaborate with game designers, animators, writers, and other specialists.
• Partner with design, QA, production, and other teams to define technical scope, timelines, and priorities.
• Debug, profile, and resolve technical challenges across large-scale systems.
• Conduct code reviews and maintain clean, modular, and maintainable code.
• Define and document technical standards.
• Collaborate on rapid prototyping, R&D, and testing new technologies and ideas.

In-office full-time position based in Warsaw, Poland. Fluent English required. Relocation support provided. Employment contract under Polish law (Umowa o pracę).
