Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Performance and Scalability)

Digital Zone is an online platform providing digital vouchers and direct top ups for various products. In 2022, it was acquired by Qi Card, a leading fintech company in Iraq, to add innovation and digital solutions to Qi Card's system. Digital Zone and its mini apps are hosted within the SuperQi super app. Its mission is to simplify everyday digital tasks such as mobile top ups, event tickets, travel bookings, and hotel reservations on one secure platform. The app is built in Iraq, expanding across the region, and is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

• 5+ years in SRE, platform, or backend engineering with strong production ownership of large-scale systems handling tens of thousands of requests per minute.
• Experience scaling systems through real traffic spikes and designing/running load and failure testing programs adopted by teams.
• Deep experience with AWS and a solid grasp of Postgres performance and scaling.
• Fluency with observability tooling and infrastructure-as-code, with scripting skills in Go, TypeScript, or similar languages.
• Calm, systematic approach to incidents and strong communication skills to influence and enable teams rather than gatekeep.

• Build the platform's scalability foundation including capacity planning, autoscaling, caching, queueing, and graceful degradation for large traffic spikes.
• Establish load and failure testing as standard engineering practices with frameworks, tooling, and runbooks for teams.
• Own SLOs, error budgets, and the observability stack (metrics, logs, traces, alerting) across TypeScript, Go, and PHP/Laravel services.
• Harden Postgres and AWS infrastructure for performance and availability and reduce toil through automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
• Lead incident response and blameless postmortems, driving systemic fixes into design and campaign planning.
• Partner with engineering teams early on capacity and resilience to enable self-sufficiency at scaling systems.
