Lead Data Engineer

Vend is home to FINN, Blocket, Tori, Oikotie, DBA & Bilbasen, platforms where millions of people across the Nordics connect to find jobs, homes, mobility solutions, or fresh starts. The role is based in Kraków with a hybrid work option.

• Deep expertise in event-driven architecture, including Kafka topic design, Change Data Capture (CDC), schema evolution, streaming and batch patterns.
• Practical experience with cloud data platforms such as GCP, BigQuery, or Snowflake.
• Knowledge of data quality frameworks and observability tools.
• Ability to coach and educate product teams on modern data practices.
• Comfortable working within a federated data ownership model (Data Mesh).
• Effective communication skills in English to translate technical decisions into business value.

Nice to have:

• Experience with schema management and data observability tools.

Typical Week:

• Perform deep technical reviews and collaborate closely with product teams.
• Coach product teams through building their first data products.
• Collaborate with central platform teams to maintain uniform standards.

Current Projects & Focus Areas:

• Champion the Data Operating Model within your vertical.
• Guide teams end-to-end from initial event emission to a discoverable product.
• Manage lifecycle of data products including versioning and deprecations.

Collaboration & Stakeholders:

• Report to the CTO of your vertical and work under the CPTO's data mandate.
• Collaborate with peer Lead Data Engineers, central platform teams, product managers, and engineers within your organization.
