Staff Software Engineer I (Pod Architecture Team)

• 5+ years professional software engineering experience, including Ruby on Rails, PHP, Python, and JavaScript
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• Experience with large, complex production applications and architectural transformations
• Strong experience with Ruby or Ruby on Rails in complex production environments
• Deep understanding of software architecture, system design, scalability, reliability, and performance principles
• Expertise in designing, building, and consuming REST APIs
• Experience with performance tuning, memory optimization, caching, and CDNs
• Proficiency with version control and CI/CD practices
• Proven ability to improve team efficiency and output quality via AI tools and automation

• Design and implement scalable software solutions for architectural evolution
• Evaluate architectural approaches including service extraction, sharding, and pod- or cell-based architecture
• Partner with engineering teams to understand product domains, dependencies, and business requirements
• Guide architectural decisions regarding scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability
• Develop technical patterns, prototypes, and implementation approaches supporting architectural transformation
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and cross-functional partners to align architecture with business objectives
• Review code and technical designs providing actionable guidance
• Troubleshoot complex system issues and identify root causes
• Document architectural decisions, patterns, and dependencies to support adoption
• Mentor engineers and share architectural expertise to strengthen technical capabilities
