Design agentic systems that work in practice:

• Map current workflows and define agentic system behaviors including decision loops and human-in-the-loop interactions.
• Design interaction patterns for trust including delegation, critique, escalation, and override.
• Translate abstract agentic concepts into implementable system and interaction designs.
• Evaluate designs on reliability, usability, scalability, and operational impact before implementation.

Set the autonomy boundary, and own that decision:

• Determine appropriate human involvement and agent autonomy based on risk, control, trust, and failure consequences.
• Make trade-offs between autonomy, control, and complexity, documenting reasoning.
• Assist teams in deciding when agentic approaches are appropriate.

Drive outcome-oriented design decisions:

• Challenge inherited workflow steps to remove process debt rather than digitize it.
• Ground design in real operating conditions including user behavior and policies.
• Prioritize scope, speed, and quality to protect delivery.

Design for trust and adoption:

• Design systems for understandability, trust, and seamless daily integration.
• Ensure designs reflect practical use, not just theory.
• Plan user changes, guardrails, and exception handling.

Partner across disciplines:

• Collaborate with engineers, architects, client leaders, and strategy teams.
• Connect concept, implementation, and adoption.
• Influence decisions through clarity and not authority.

Establish reusable patterns:

• Codify learnings into design patterns, frameworks, and guidance.
• Balance standardization with flexibility for different use cases.
• Refine patterns based on user feedback and production behavior.
