Senior Tools Engineer

Fundraise Up is a global fundraising platform serving nonprofit organizations worldwide, including clients like UNICEF and the Alzheimer's Association. The platform includes a modern checkout experience, customizable widgets, donor and organization portals, admin tools, and internal apps. The backend uses Node.js (Koa, NestJS) and MongoDB; the frontend uses Webpack, Vue.js, and React with nearly all code in TypeScript. They handle high-throughput messaging with Kafka and Bull (Redis), store analytics in ClickHouse, and use Elasticsearch for search. The distributed team consists of 160+ product professionals, including 80+ engineers across several countries.

• 5+ years of professional software development experience including automation, bot development, and process automation.
• Fullstack capability with a backend bias.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js.
• Experience with at least one modern frontend framework: React, Vue, Angular, Svelte, or similar.
• Experience with serverless platforms such as Cloudflare Workers, Vercel, or equivalent.
• Experience with MongoDB, ClickHouse, and/or PostgreSQL, comfortable working with relational and non-relational databases.
• Practical experience building bots for Slack and/or Telegram.
• Hands-on experience automating processes and integrating third-party APIs.
• Working knowledge of OpenAI/LLM APIs.
• Ability to work autonomously and own outcomes without close supervision.
• Reliability in honoring commitments.
• English proficiency sufficient for daily written and verbal communication.
• Availability and responsiveness during 12:00–18:00 CET on a flexible part-time schedule.

Nice to have:

• Experience building RAG pipelines or agent-based systems.

• Own internal automation for the project-management system (TargetProcess), building custom rules, workflow logic, and integrations.
• Design and deploy bots for Slack and Telegram to create tasks, deliver notifications, and handle routine requests.
• Automate recurring operational processes such as on-call announcements, absence notices, and reminders.
• Build AI-powered assistants and agents to help employees complete routine tasks and obtain fast, accurate answers.
• Develop lightweight internal mini-projects to support company events and culture.
• Document every solution comprehensively for maintainability and team use.
• Actively use AI tools daily and identify opportunities for AI-driven improvements in workflows.
