Android Developer

QED is a tech company focused on public health and food security in Sub-Saharan Africa. They build digital infrastructure and AI used at the intersection of aid and scientific inquiry, including surveillance of HIV and malaria, and nutrient analysis of crops and soils. Their funding comes from multiple philanthropic and governmental organizations such as the Global Fund, Gates Foundation, CDC, and USAID.

• Over 4 years of experience building Android applications
• Experience with Kotlin, including basics of Kotlin coroutines
• Experience with Android Jetpack
• Strong background in software engineering, version control, data structures, and algorithms
• Working proficiency in English (≥C1)
• Logical reasoning, emotional resilience, and social intelligence
• Care about your work and maintain optimism

Nice to have:

• Prior experience in leading a software engineering team
• Domain knowledge or interest in sustainable development goals, public health, agriculture, and developing countries
• Experience with computer vision
• Experience with gRPC

• Build Android applications deployed to the Play Store and actively used in production environments
• Use Kotlin for Android development including basics of Kotlin coroutines
• Work with Android Jetpack
• Write readable code and tests with robust design practices
• Collaborate across cultures and communicate ideas clearly
• Optionally travel to learn about problem domains and explore technologies beyond main expertise
