Senior Software Engineer - AI Enablement Finance

Kraken is one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms, trusted by over 10 million individuals and institutions globally. Kraken's Global Finance team manages accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax, and finance operations across multiple regulated entities and 70+ countries.

• Proven experience designing, deploying, and scaling agentic AI systems in production.
• Deep understanding of LLM orchestration, multi-agent system design, and autonomous AI workflow failure modes.
• Strong systems architecture skills from discovery through optimization.
• Hands-on proficiency with AI automation tools: Claude, Anthropic APIs, Python orchestration, n8n or equivalent, MCP or similar.
• Strong knowledge of finance operations including close, reconciliations, treasury, reporting, and controls in regulated environments.
• Experience deploying automation compliant with SOX or equivalent regulations.
• Ability to translate finance and business requirements into technical roadmaps and solutions.
• Strong communication skills to bridge finance, technical, and business teams and influence senior stakeholders.
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with ownership and execution bias.

Nice to have:

• Experience with finance systems like NetSuite, BlackLine, Kyriba, Fireblocks, or Lukka.
• Background as a Head of Product or Engineering at AI-native companies or agentic infrastructure firms.
• Familiarity with crypto-native financial infrastructure including digital asset custody and blockchain accounting.
• Experience in high-velocity or resource-constrained environments such as startups or PE-backed companies.
• Knowledge of data privacy, information governance, or compliance in financial services.
• Experience managing vendor relationships and procurement for finance platforms.

Assess and map Finance operations:

• Evaluate financial workflows including close, reconciliations, treasury, reporting, controls validation, and audit preparation.
• Identify capability gaps, bottlenecks, and integration failures across systems including NetSuite, BlackLine, Kyriba, Fireblocks, and Lukka.
• Benchmark operations against best practices and emerging AI capabilities to build the Finance automation roadmap.
• Translate process pain points into automation requirements working with accounting, FP&A, treasury, and finance teams.

Architect the agentic finance platform:

• Design long-term AI-native finance system architecture integrating agentic systems with infrastructure and data pipelines.
• Evaluate and simplify existing finance systems stack to define a scalable target architecture.
• Build an agentic finance layer to automate workflows alongside existing systems and plan migration toward AI-native architecture.

Build and deploy production finance automation:

• Deploy agentic workflows automating reconciliations, close processes, audit preparation, treasury monitoring, analytics, and controls validation.
• Use AI tooling including Claude, Anthropic APIs, Python orchestration, n8n or equivalent workflow engines, and MCP or similar agent coordination layers.
• Integrate internal and external systems connecting APIs and data sources into automated workflows.
• Maintain human oversight and design for auditability and control integrity.

Own AI governance for Finance:

• Establish guardrails for safe automation in a SOX-regulated environment.
• Build frameworks covering data classification, auditability, human checkpoints, failure detection, rollback, and regulatory compliance.
• Classify automation builds by risk tier and ensure audit logging, access controls, and Process Owner designation.
• Represent Finance domain in Kraken's Automate Everything Center of Excellence.

Build the foundation for AI-native Finance:

• Create reusable frameworks, workflow templates, and documentation for safe platform extension.
• Train finance professionals on AI-assisted tools and drive adoption.
• Build metrics and dashboards to measure efficiency, cost, risk, and ROI from automation.
• Provide leadership reporting on operational improvements and finance platform roadmap.
