Software Engineer (4/5) — Developer Platform

The Infrastructure Engineering Organization at Netflix has teams focusing on modernization, resilience & reliability tooling, internal application interface development, improving technical health of systems, and metrics collection to improve developer productivity. Teams include Engineering Operations Tooling with Availability Tooling and Knowledge Platform that leverage cutting-edge GenAI for documentation and support solutions.

• Experience in back-end development, preferably in Java or Python.
• Ability to research and document technical tradeoffs clearly and concisely.
• Ability to manage projects independently from design to production.
• Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Passion for writing tests and solving testing and reliability challenges.
• Problem-solving skills leveraging data for quantitative decisions.
• Collaboration skills working with customer and partner teams for software change strategies.
• Passion for developer productivity and tooling investments.
• Platform engineering expertise.
• Familiarity with managing applications in AWS and core AWS services such as EC2, S3.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes or other container management solutions.
• Experience designing, building, and operating continuous delivery and integration systems.
• Full-stack development experience including persistence, business logic, service APIs, and front-end UX.

• Write software that assists other engineers in their software development processes.
• Develop applications using Java, Python, and other programming languages.
• Scale services and applications to handle hundreds of users and thousands of requests per minute.
• Engage with customers and product managers to ensure delivery of necessary tools and features.
• Write design documents and drive changes across teams and organizations.
• Ensure the reliability and success of productivity tools.
• Work across different layers of the stack with focus on one layer but familiarity with others.
• Choose storage solutions and design data models for relational and non-relational datasets.
• Write queries and reports to power analytics and dashboards for customer teams and organizations.
