Senior Backend Python Engineer

IndieBI is building business intelligence tools to help developers and publishers of PC and Console games manage their commercial operations more efficiently. The company is also building a dedicated account management team providing exclusive high-profile service tailored to video game developers and publishers. The project involves collecting pricing and promotional-discount data for video games across every major digital storefront and integrating with each platform to set and reconcile discounts.

• Strong expertise in Python including modern type-hinted code, Pydantic v2, async/await.
• Experience with FastAPI or equivalent modern Python web frameworks in production.
• Comfortable with SQLAlchemy and relational databases such as PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
• Solid DevOps fundamentals including experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes.
• Skilled in Kubernetes concepts including pods, replicas, deployments, services, and kubectl operation.
• Working knowledge of Azure services including identity/service principals, secrets, storage, and messaging (Service Bus).
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows, code reviews, linters, type-checks, and testing frameworks (uv, ruff, mypy, pytest).
• Experience with observability tools such as Elastic/Kibana, Sentry, and APM.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure-as-Code, especially Terragrunt.
• Exposure to networking and security (e.g., FortiGate, VPN, DNS).
• Knowledge of architecture patterns like leader election, publisher-subscriber, Circuit Breaker.
• Experience with data pipeline orchestration.
• Web scraping expertise at scale using tools like Playwright, headless browsers, proxies, and anti-bot techniques.
• Optional frontend experience with Vue 3 and TypeScript.

• Build and maintain typed, async FastAPI services backed by PostgreSQL and MSSQL (using SQLAlchemy 2.x and Alembic).
• Extend storefront integrations and diagnose platform API or authentication changes.
• Write scheduled data jobs (Airflow / containerized) for scraping, backfilling, and reconciling discount and pricing data.
• Ship code through GitLab CI to Kubernetes (AKS), monitor in Elastic/Kibana and Sentry, and fix production issues.
• Work daily with Azure services including service principals, Key Vault secrets, and Blob storage.
• Make small, safe changes to Terraform infrastructure and shared platform libraries.
• Resolve production issues promptly.
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop features for internal tools.
• Maintain clear documentation and open collaboration via GitLab MRs, ADRs, and Jira.
