Senior Java Developer

Autopay creates technologies that simplify everyday payments and financial processes for millions of users. It operates at the intersection of fintech, digital products, and modern technologies, developing solutions used daily. The Product & Data Engineering (P&DE) area develops and maintains products offered to customers and business partners, from payment gateways through digital identity verification services to systems supporting transactional processes and financial integrations. The company builds systems that must operate reliably, securely, and at scale, with technical decisions made by engineers.

• Strong knowledge of Java 17+ and the Spring Boot and Spring Framework ecosystem
• Experience designing and developing distributed systems with high availability
• Familiarity with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, including optimization and performance
• Experience working with queueing systems or event-driven platforms such as Kafka or similar
• Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Understanding of modern backend application design and hexagonal architecture
• Ability to make technical decisions and effectively communicate them to both technical teams and business stakeholders
• Experience working in agile environments (Scrum/Kanban)
• Proficient communication in Polish and English (minimum B2)
• Openness to using Generative AI tools to support software development processes

Nice to have:

• Experience in the fintech, electronic payments, or financial services industry
• Knowledge of architectural patterns such as DDD, CQRS, Event Sourcing, or Saga
• Experience with observability tools (Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry)
• Familiarity with WildFly/JBoss or other enterprise application servers
• Experience with AWS or other public cloud platforms
• Experience working in a product company
• Knowledge of code quality tools like SonarQube or CodeRabbit

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications based on Java 17+ and Spring Boot
• Develop high availability and high-performance systems supporting transactional processes
• Actively participate in all stages of the software lifecycle—from analysis and design to deployment and maintenance
• Design solutions integrating internal systems with financial partners and external service providers
• Make architectural decisions and recommend optimal technological solutions
• Maintain code quality, programming standards, and engineering best practices
• Conduct code reviews and support the team in maintaining high technical standards
• Identify and reduce technical debt
• Collaborate with Product Manager, Tech Leader, and Engineering Manager on planning and estimating work
• Monitor, optimize, and develop systems operating in production environments
