• Solid experience building and maintaining production systems using Java and its ecosystem
• Strong knowledge of Java with understanding of JVM internals
• Excellent system design skills for scalable architectures
• Proficient with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, including query optimization and performance tuning
• AI-native mindset with hands-on expertise leveraging AI tools, large language models, and autonomous agents
• Deep understanding of messaging concepts, preferably with the Kafka ecosystem or similar
• Good understanding of concurrency concepts and principles
• Exceptional troubleshooting skills for complex production issues
• Proven engagement and ownership in delivering solutions and driving team success
• Experience conducting effective code reviews ensuring high-quality deliverables
• Solid understanding of security best practices in web and backend development
• Leadership experience including mentoring and facilitating technical discussions
• Upper-intermediate English proficiency with strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Lead the design of system architecture ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
• Perform thorough code reviews to ensure best practices, backward compatibility, and maintainability
• Analyze and improve application performance by identifying bottlenecks and proposing solutions
• Ensure adherence to security best practices during development and deployment
• Oversee a complex ecosystem of Payment Orchestrators, Global Processors, and Local Payment Methods
• Lead integration of third-party Gateways, Vaulting services, and Alternative Payment Methods globally
• Own production health of the payment stack including monitoring, automated reconciliation, and rapid-response protocols
• Serve as the technical bridge between development, QA, and product teams for solution alignment
• Collaborate with product and project managers on iteration planning and delivery
• Act as a dependable point of contact for critical decision-making and delivery
