Backend Software Engineer - AI Finance Agent

BJAK is a company founded in 2019 that built the first mobile-first insurance platform accessible online to millions in Southeast Asia. The company is expanding its financial product offerings including spending, saving, investing, exchanging, and travel services. BJAK has a diverse global team with over 20 nationalities working from offices and remotely.

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design, and production debugging.
• Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems.
• Good understanding of security, reliability, data quality, and operational edge cases.
• Able to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality, and risk.
• Comfortable working with product, mobile, operations, and business teams.
• Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking, or regulated products is a strong advantage.

• Build backend services, APIs, and workflows for the AI Neobank app.
• Support products across insurance, payments, wallet, savings, investing, travel, and financial services.
• Design reliable systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications, and operations.
• Work with product and mobile teams to ship customer-facing journeys quickly.
• Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers, and other partners.
• Improve system reliability, observability, security, and performance.
• Build systems that are practical, auditable, and ready for regulated financial products.

This is a remote role; candidates must be based in Poland and are hiring specifically for this market. English is the main working language and strong English communication skills are required.
