Applied AI Engineer

BJAK is a financial technology company started in 2019 that built the first mobile-first insurance platform in Southeast Asia, accessible online by millions in the region. The company is expanding into broader financial services including spending, saving, investing, exchanging, and travelling. They have a diverse, global team with over 20 nationalities working from offices and remotely.

• Hands-on engineering experience, not only AI strategy or management.
• Experience building AI agents, LLM applications, RAG systems, automation workflows, copilots, or AI-enabled tools.
• Proficient coding skills in Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, or similar practical languages.
• Strong judgement on automation suitability.
• Ability to deliver working systems, test their quality, and enhance reliability.
• Experience in fintech, banking, support automation, risk, KYC, fraud, CRM, or operations automation is a strong plus.

Nice to have:

• Strong technology career highlights involving personal contributions to building, shipping, or scaling significant products, platforms, or systems.

• Build AI agents, workflows, tools, and automations that solve customer, product, and operations problems.
• Apply LLMs, retrieval, tool calling, evaluations, guardrails, and automation to financial workflows.
• Create AI-assisted experiences for onboarding, support, KYC, risk review, CRM, operations, document handling, and product intelligence.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to prioritize and rapidly build valuable solutions, improving them in production.
• Design solutions considering accuracy, hallucination risk, latency, cost, security, compliance, and user trust.
• Convert manual processes into scalable, reliable AI-enabled systems.

Candidates must be based in Poland as the hiring is specific to this market. English language proficiency is required as it is the main working language. The role is not suitable for candidates seeking research-only positions, treating AI as demos, or lacking production ownership and collaboration skills.
