Within Tesco Data & Analytics, we help customers and communities get value from data by building and running Tesco’s data platforms, architecting and engineering data, providing tools for the analytics community, developing data products at scale, and maintaining applications. The Data Science team works on a broad range of projects across supply chain, logistics, store and online, including Operations Optimizations, Commercial Decision Support, Online Search and Recommendation, and Intelligent Edge technologies like Computer Vision. Machine Learning Engineers collaborate with data scientists to develop tools, optimize code, and deploy solutions on edge, cloud, and big-data environments.
Wymagania
- Higher degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or science.
- Customer focus balancing outcome delivery and technical excellence.
- Demonstrable experience building MLOps systems following best market standards.
- Commercial experience contributing to high impact Data Science projects in complex organizations.
- Awareness of emerging MLOps tools like feature stores and model lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of ML workflow/orchestration platforms such as Airflow.
- Analytical mindset with ability to tackle specific business problems.
- Experience with multiple programming languages; fluency in Python preferred.
- Use of version control systems like Git.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools such as Splunk or Grafana.
- Understanding of common data structures and algorithms.
- Experience working in open-source Data Science environments.
- Knowledge of open source big-data technologies such as Apache Spark.
- Experience building cloud-based solutions, ideally on Azure.
- Familiarity with software development methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.
- Background or understanding of retail, logistics, or ecommerce is advantageous.

- Deliver high quality code and solutions, bringing data science solutions into production.
- Participate in group discussions on system design and architecture.
- Work with product teams to translate needs into technical requirements.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Product teams throughout the software lifecycle.
- Perform code reviews to optimize technical performance of data science solutions.
- Support production systems, resolve incidents, and perform root cause analysis.
- Identify ways to evolve and improve technology, processes, and practices.
- Share knowledge with the immediate engineering team.
- Collaborate with other teams on complex initiatives via working groups.
- Apply Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices to create and release robust software.
