Senior Engineering Manager & Site Lead

Saily is a company offering fast, secure mobile data plans without roaming charges or plastic SIM cards, operating in 200+ countries. The product is powered by NordVPN and is the eSIM behind Lonely Planet's #1 ranking. The role is part of the Engineering team at Nord Security.

• At least 2 years of experience leading a team of software engineers.
• Solid software development background with understanding or interest in mobile application domain.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and SDLC including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Strong interpersonal skills; comfortable being a primary point of contact.
• Experience or strong interest in workplace culture, community building, or office operations.
• Team spirited, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to develop cross-platform solutions timely with the team.
• Comfortable representing the site publicly in meetings and external events.

Nice to have:

• Previous experience as site lead, office lead, or similar community building role.
• Track record of growing a team or site from a small footprint.
• Experience with employer branding or local talent market engagement.
• Familiarity with hybrid and remote work culture management across multiple locations.

Engineering Management:

• Take ownership of the design, development, deployment, and operations of solutions and features developed by your squad.
• Lead and grow an engineering squad of 8 to 10 specialists with mentorship, performance evaluation, and personal development plans.
• Set clear direction and eliminate roadblocks to ensure team success.
• Lead sprint planning and velocity tracking to meet product milestones.
• Develop and execute plans using agile methodologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional squads and partner with Product Owners.
• Discuss business solutions with stakeholders and engineers, propose or validate approaches.

Site Leadership:

• Represent the site in the broader organization, across cross-site discussions and leadership forums.
• Own and nurture the local office culture through events and initiatives.
• Be the first point of contact for new joiners, ensuring a welcoming onboarding experience.
• Drive site expansion, coordinating with Talent Acquisition, Workplace, and leadership.
• Build relationships with the local tech community to enhance external presence.
• Identify and escalate operational needs like facilities, tooling, and policies.
• Champion cross-site collaboration by maintaining communication between local and distributed teams.
