Node Architect - Freelance

Netguru offers application development services across various industries including fintech, healthcare, commerce, tourism, and robotics. Their tech stack includes technologies such as Ruby on Rails, Node.js, React.js, React Native, Kotlin, Vue.js, Python, Django, and Elixir.

• At least 8 years of experience, comfortable with multi-team design and architecture.
• Ability to anticipate future use cases and minimize cost of change, expressing trade-offs in cost terms.
• Capacity to predict scaling limits and raise capacity concerns during design review.
• Experience reviewing others' designs to identify potential scaling or cost issues early.
• Comfortable engaging as a technical peer to Staff engineers and engineering managers, including productive disagreement.
• Design services following patterns for iterative, autonomous development and future scaling, minimizing cross-service dependencies.
• Design for expected peak loads and validate limits via testing.
• Build components consumable by other teams with documentation and migration paths.
• Design with abuse scenarios in mind, incorporating rate limits, velocity checks, and idempotency.
• Must be able to read and explain every line of AI-generated code shipped.
• Test coverage must include edge and failure cases, beyond happy paths.
• Working knowledge of OWASP Top 10 and secure-by-default practices including secrets management, input validation, and data handling.
• Strong written English skills for asynchronous collaboration via RFCs and reviews.
• Collaborative style: presenting options with trade-offs, reasoning over seniority, and gracefully losing technical arguments.

• Analyze an existing multi-product architecture to understand its rationale before proposing changes.
• Deliver evidence-based assessments of code and design quality across product lines including correctness, security posture, coupling, and capacity risk.
• Write and review RFCs and ADRs detailing assumptions, failure modes, capacity, and security of systems.
• Design incremental, reversible extend-versus-rebuild decisions with migration and rollback paths.
• Work within real constraints such as multi-currency payments (IQD/AED/SAR), fraud/abuse exposure, PCI DSS scope, third-party integrations, and significant traffic spikes.
