Senior Data Engineer

BlackLine is a leading provider of cloud software that automates and controls the entire financial close process. Founded in 2001, the company focuses on modernizing finance and accounting functions for operational effectiveness and agility. The role is based in Kraków within the Business Intelligence & Analytics Engineering team, working on an AI-powered Invoice-to-Cash SaaS solution.

• Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake including data modelling, performance tuning, and security features.
• Proficiency in Power BI, including semantic models, DAX, Power Query, and enterprise reporting.
• Proven experience building and operating production ELT/ETL pipelines using tools such as dbt, Apache Airflow, or Azure Data Factory.
• Expert-level SQL skills and experience with at least one general-purpose programming language, preferably Python.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI-driven development tools like Cursor and Claude to improve velocity and quality.
• Strong data quality and observability mindset with monitoring and testing built into pipelines.
• Ability to work independently on well-scoped initiatives delivering reliable data products.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to translate technical and business requirements.

• Build and govern ELT/ETL data pipelines to move and transform data into analytics-ready datasets in Snowflake.
• Develop enterprise-grade Power BI reports and dashboards with semantic models and row-level security.
• Contribute to the evolution of the data platform architecture ensuring scalability and cost efficiency.
• Apply best practices in data modelling producing modular, tested, and documented models.
• Use AI development tools like Claude and Cursor to accelerate data engineering work.
• Implement data quality frameworks with automated testing and monitoring.
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing to raise the engineering bar.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and finance stakeholders to meet data needs and communicate platform capabilities.
