Bazel Engineer (Expert)

VirtusLab is a leading European software consulting and engineering company focused on clean code and practical solutions. The project involves consultancy, migration, and open-source work related to Bazel, encompassing short and medium-length projects and possibly forming longer-lived teams. The team is an elite squad of 10 Bazel experts working on challenging builds across multiple ecosystems.

• Expert level skills with Bazel, Gradle, Maven, and CMake
• Advanced proficiency in one of these ecosystems: JVM, Rust, GoLang, TypeScript, or C++
• Proven track record in developing solutions around build tools, maintaining CI/CD pipelines, or optimizing SDLC processes
• Deep expertise in Bazel (preferred) or other build tools
• Interest in build systems, SDLC, and developer tooling
• Excellent communication skills and pragmatic approach to technical problem-solving
• Proactive blocker resolution and collaborative technical alignment
• High autonomy in task execution
• Experience in public speaking, technical blogging, community engagement, mentoring, and knowledge sharing is a significant asset

• Executing smooth Bazel migrations
• Promoting Bazel ecosystems and engineering expertise through conferences, meetups, blog posts, and social media if comfortable
• Developing high-quality open-source and internal solutions tailored to Bazel
• Supporting pre-sales activities and strategic technical consultancy
• Developing and delivering training sessions and mentoring engineering teams if comfortable
