PostgreSQL Administrator

• Strong experience as DBA / PostgreSQL Database Administrator.
• Experience in monitoring, managing, and maintaining 24x7 mission-critical databases.
• Good understanding of PostgreSQL architecture.
• Experience with installation, configuration, and administration of PostgreSQL on Linux and Windows machines.
• Experience implementing high-availability solutions.
• Experience with installation/configuration of replication, connection pooling.
• Expert in backup & recovery including PG dump and setting up WAL archiving.
• Experience on PostgreSQL minor and major version upgrades.

Nice to have:

• Experience with MySQL.
• Experience with MongoDB.
• Experience with MSSQL.
• Experience with Oracle (at least one technology).

• Understanding operational requirements including hardware, architecture, configuration, integration, and maintaining mission-critical production PostgreSQL databases.
• Managing replication using streaming, cascading, and logical methods.
• Implementing HA solutions of EDB PostgreSQL using EFM and load balancer.
• Responsible for all logical and physical backup & recovery including PITR recovery.
• Managing connection pooling tools and database auditing.
• Performing regular maintenance tasks like vacuum, reindexing, and archiving.
• Utilizing community-supported tools like Pgbadger, Slony, PGadmin, Pgpool, and Pgbouncer.
• Managing clusters and upgrading/migrating various PostgreSQL database versions.
• Conducting performance tuning.
• Developing database automation scripts and maintenance.
• Providing technical guidance for integration, testing, design, development, and planning of new production systems/databases.
• Contributing to improving and creating DBA policies, procedures, and standards.
