Cloud Engineer

The role involves shaping cloud foundations and platform engineering capabilities within a large, regulated enterprise environment.

• Practical experience with public cloud (preferably GCP; strong AWS or Azure candidates welcome with willingness to learn GCP).
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools: Terraform, OpenTofu, Pulumi, or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes (GKE, EKS, AKS), Helm, and container basics.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and/or GitOps tools (Argo CD, Flux).
• Understanding of VPC/VNet fundamentals, IAM/RBAC, ingress concepts, and secure-by-default practices.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language: Python, Go, or Bash.
• Ability to work within governance, change control, security, and risk processes of a regulated enterprise environment.

Nice to have:

• Exposure to SRE practices including SLIs/SLOs, incident management, and error budgets.
• Experience with observability stacks like Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus/Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
• Familiarity with security tooling such as policy-as-code, image scanning, and secrets management.

• Build and enhance cloud landing zones and developer self-service capabilities.
• Deliver scoped infrastructure and platform changes (IaC, compute, networking, storage, containers) end-to-end with guidance from senior SMEs.
• Automate repeatable tasks and apply agreed engineering standards to reduce variation and improve reliability.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation, supporting continuous improvement.
• Create and maintain test plans and evidence (unit and integration tests) for your changes.
• Support DevOps teams during releases by preparing deployments, validating changes, and troubleshooting issues.
• Participate in incident investigation and resolution for the services you support.
• Contribute to resilience and recoverability goals: monitoring coverage, backups, and failover procedures aligned to RTO/RPO/SLO targets.
• Work with Ops, Dev, and Test teams to identify operational considerations early (performance, alerting, runbooks).
