Senior Mechanical Engineer

Clone Robotics is a company working on robotic hardware, including muscle-driven androids. It has a skilled mechanics and assembly team and is growing to become part of an international team with wide development opportunities.

• A strong portfolio of mechanical design work, ideally for robotics or other demanding motion-driven systems.
• Excellent complex surface modeling skills in SolidWorks, including organic surfaces, lofts, boundary fills, curvature continuity, and clean transitions.
• Strong all-around mechanical design skills.
• Solid working knowledge of polymers and their mechanical behavior (material selection, stiffness, creep, fatigue, anisotropy, and layer adhesion).
• Strong ability to design and integrate electronics into hardware, with some hands-on electronics experience.
• Experience with motors, gearboxes, actuators, encoders, and sensor integration such as load cells.
• Design-for-manufacturing experience primarily with 3D printing (FDM, MSLA) and machining; basic understanding of injection molding.
• Broad knowledge of standard components such as bearings, bushings, fasteners, rope hardware, and parts for tendon routing.
• Parametric modeling and building tools/configurations for high-variation parts.
• Strong grasp of mechanics, including calculating forces, load paths, and friction losses.
• FEA experience using SolidWorks Simulation.
• Ability to tolerance parts properly, with strong command of GD&T.
• Strong self-organization with realistic ETAs.
• Good teamwork, communication, and fluent English.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or related field (portfolio can substitute).
• Ability to work from the office in Wrocław.

Nice to have:

• Experience with cable/tendon-driven mechanisms, pulleys, and routing.
• Class-A/industrial design surfacing background.
• Experience with composites and novel actuation methods.
• Experience in hydraulics.
• Familiarity with tribology (friction, wear, contact behavior).
• Multibody/motion dynamics simulation.
• Topology optimization or lightweighting experience.
• Interest in humanoid robotics or mechatronics.
• Experience with elastomers and silicone.
• Scripting and design automation such as SolidWorks API, macros, or Python.

• Design complete mechanical parts from internal mechanisms to finished manufacturable geometry.
• Create complex, organic surface geometry in SolidWorks to a high standard.
• Integrate electronics and standard components into the hardware.
• Validate designs with FEA and hand calculations, including loads, stresses, and friction losses.
• Design for manufacturing across 3D printing, machining, and injection molding.
• Iterate closely with mechanics and assembly teams.

Ability to work from the office in Wrocław.
