Software Engineer - Backend (Colleague Clubcard API)

The Colleague Clubcard & Pension team at Tesco Technology builds and runs enterprise grade APIs powering colleague benefits like the Colleague Clubcard and Retirement Savings scheme. • 4+ years hands-on experience as a Software Engineer within the JVM ecosystem (Java, Spring Boot)
• Good understanding of cloud platforms (preferred Azure) and experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• Solid grasp of software engineering fundamentals including testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, version control, and code reviews
• Ability to translate business/product requirements into technical approaches
• Able to work independently with minimal guidance
• Experience working in an Agile environment (Scrum or Kanban)
• Proactive mindset comfortable proposing improvements, identifying risks, and shaping better ways of working

• Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly reliable backend services powering colleague benefits
• Contribute to feature design and participate in technical discussions ensuring business and compliance requirements are met
• Apply a DevOps mindset by owning services end to end, including development, deployment, monitoring, and operational support
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement durable fixes
• Communicate progress, risks, and technical insights within the team and wider Tesco stakeholders

This role requires the candidate to be based in or near Kraków to collaborate onsite at least 60% of the week (3 office days, 2 remote days).
