Senior Software Engineer (Typescript), AI Clients: Duo CLI

GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps, trusted by over 50 million users and more than 50% of the Fortune 100 to ship better, more secure software faster. This role is within GitLab's AI Clients group, specifically the Developer Clients team, focused on GitLab Duo CLI and related IDE extensions.

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and interest in developer tooling and CLI design.
• Experience building or maintaining command-line tools or developer-facing tooling including command and flag design, terminal UIs, output formatting, scripting-friendly behavior.
• Experience owning technical problems end to end, making architectural trade-offs, and mentoring engineers.
• Clear written and spoken English communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a fully remote, largely asynchronous environment.
• Alignment with GitLab's values and commitment to an inclusive culture.
• Experience with IDE extension development such as JetBrains plugins in Kotlin or VS Code extensions is helpful but not required.
• Understanding of Language Server Protocol, language servers, or editor integrations is helpful but not required.

• Own the design, development, and evolution of GitLab Duo CLI features from problem definition through implementation, rollout, and iteration.
• Build interactive terminal experiences in TypeScript with command and flag design, output formatting, and backward compatibility.
• Drive reliability, observability, and performance improvements for the CLI while reducing technical debt.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineering teams across Developer Clients and AI Clients stage to align technical decisions with broader strategy.
• Champion product quality, security, and developer experience through code reviews and mentorship.
• Contribute to IDE extension work including JetBrains plugin in Kotlin and VS Code extension in TypeScript when applicable.
