Practice Lead

HSBC Service Delivery is recruiting a Practice Lead in Applied Capability Engineering (ACE) focused on driving organization-wide capability initiatives to improve engineering outcomes across GCIO in Kraków.

• 8+ years of relevant experience in software and/or infrastructure engineering.
• Proven experience designing and implementing standards, best practices, and governance processes at scale.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, QA, and modern software engineering lifecycle practices.
• Strong process knowledge of the end-to-end testing lifecycle from requirements through post-production.
• Working knowledge of scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash, Groovy).
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, CI/CD toolchains).
• Excellent communication and analytical skills with ability to influence across organizational levels.
• Proven ability to manage multiple customer/team engagements simultaneously.
• Strong self-management with minimal supervision and effective time management.

Nice to have:

• Experience building engineering dashboards/metrics such as DORA and flow metrics.
• Experience driving enterprise-wide change and adoption via champion networks and enablement programs.
• Experience with platform engineering concepts and reusable developer services.
• Hands-on experience implementing test automation frameworks and quality gates in pipelines.
• Practical experience applying AI tools to engineering workflows (coding, test generation, release insights, automation).

• Accelerate adoption of standard CI/CD pipelines and deployment services across CTO portfolios.
• Create and maintain best practices, standards, guardrails, and governance processes for GCIO initiatives.
• Establish lightweight governance with clear decision points, templates, reference implementations, and pragmatic controls.
• Socialise practices through playbooks, brown bags, office hours, training, and “show-and-tell” sessions.
• Build a network of champions across engineering teams and help tailor adoption without fragmenting standards.
• Act as a consultative partner to multiple CTO teams concurrently, balancing hands-on support with scalable enablement.
• Deliver adoption accelerators such as dashboards for release frequency, LTTD, pipeline health, quality signals; automation to remove manual steps; AI-enabled engineering capabilities.
• Collaborate with CTO teams, platform engineering, QA/testing leaders, architecture, risk/control partners, and delivery leadership.
• Operate with a product mindset: clear outcomes, measurable success, iterative delivery, and continuous improvement.
• Influence through data, clarity, and practical examples rather than just documentation.
