Senior Engineering Manager

Remitly is an international payments company that leverages digital channels, including mobile phones, to send money internationally. Remitly's digital products are fundamentally faster, less expensive, and far more convenient for customers to send money across borders.

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 10+ years of software development experience, including backend development with Java, Kotlin, and Golang
• 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams, ideally on platform or distributed-systems teams
• Experience building and scaling distributed systems on public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), ideally in regulated or high-availability domains
• Experience mentoring and growing engineers up to Senior and Staff levels
• Experience leading across two or more sub-teams or through tech leads and emerging managers
• Experience hiring and technically interviewing candidates across levels
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across time zones

• Own all aspects of people management for a team of 6-12 engineers, including hiring, team structure, performance management, and career development up to senior and staff levels
• Set and drive multi-quarter technical and delivery strategy in partnership with product and platform leadership
• Lead the team through complex initiatives such as new-market launches, platform migrations, or scaling core money-movement services
• Partner with senior and staff engineers on architecture and technical direction in regulated, high-availability financial systems
• Represent the team across Product, banking and payment partners, and Seattle-based partner teams
• Champion engineering and operational best practices including delivery health, quality, and on-call excellence metrics
• Work in a hybrid model: onsite Tuesday through Thursday each week in Kraków
